Each piece at Sheldon Ceramics is made by skilled hands. This process invariably creates pieces outside of our threshold for standard retail sales. These slightly less-than-perfect pieces come with a blemish or two, which adds to their unique personality. Each second is completely unique, with imperfections that range from uneven glazing to glaze pinholes to the piece being slightly off-round, or slumped. We assure you the pottery is still completely functional.
We do not accept returns or exchanges on sales of seconds.
Our handmade Farmhouse Milk Bottles are hand thrown on the potter's wheel using stoneware clay, and glazed using our custom formulated glazes. Whether standing alone or housing fresh cut flowers, our antique inspired milk bottles offer the perfect accent to any room, bookshelf or table.
7.75" tall x 3.5" circumference
All of our glazes are formulated and mixed from scratch in our studio, and contain non-toxic, all natural, food safe materials.
Each bottle is fired twice. The final firing is a cone 10 high reduction atmosphere. A cone 10 firing differs from the low firing techniques often used, and ensures each piece to be highly durable.
The final firing takes 15 hrs to reach the high temperatures necessary, requires precision and monitoring to ensure the kiln is heated evenly, and two days to cool.
We prefer this firing technique with all of our ceramics, to ensure our pieces can endure wear and tear, daily use, and avoid chipping. Our pottery is meant to be used and enjoyed daily. It's made to last you a lifetime!
** Please note that all of our pottery is handmade and seconds include variations in size, glazing, and appearance.
