Each piece at Sheldon Ceramics is made by skilled hands. This process invariably creates pieces outside of our threshold for standard retail sales. These slightly less-than-perfect pieces come with a blemish or two, which adds to their unique personality. Each second is completely unique, with imperfections that range from uneven glazing to glaze pinholes to the piece being slightly off-round, or slumped. We assure you the pottery is still completely functional.

Our Crocodile Collection offers truly unique and beautifully textured pieces. This handmade rice bowl is hand thrown on the wheel and glazed using our custom formulated Lichen glaze. The white beaded texture wraps around the bowl, creating unique variations in pattern and a striking addition to any room or table.
All of our glazes are formulated and mixed from scratch in our studio, and contain non-toxic, all natural, food safe materials.
Each bowl is fired twice. The final firing is fired to cone 10. A cone 10 firing differs from the low firing techniques often used, and ensures each piece to be highly durable.
The final firing takes 24 hrs to reach the high temperatures necessary, requires precision and monitoring to ensure the kiln is heated evenly, and two days to cool.
We prefer this firing technique with all of our ceramics, to ensure our pieces can endure wear and tear, daily use, and avoid chipping. Our pottery is meant to be used and enjoyed daily. It's made to last you a lifetime!
