Terms & Conditions

SHIPPING

DOMESTIC (US) Ready-to-Ship orders will be carefully packaged and shipped within 1-3 business days of purchase. Prices listed are for UPS and you will receive an email letting you know your order has shipped. Shipping costs are based on weight, distance, and handling, and more items always cost more to ship.

MADE-to-ORDER items are produced and shipped within 4-8 weeks.

Shipping pottery can be expensive depending on the weight of an item, or dimensions of the box used to ship. We are a very small business and don't qualify for a discount on shipping. We use recycled materials for shipping in order to cut down on shipping costs, and limit our carbon footprint. We don't make any profit on shipping, the price listed is either the actual cost or even slightly discounted. If there does happen to be a significant overage we will send a refund.

We can not guarantee delivery times or dates - orders typically arrive 5-7 business days after the date of shipping . Please contact us before you purchase an item if you need something by a specific date, as you may need upgraded shipping services.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

We are a made-to-order ceramics company and begin work to make and fulfill your items shortly after your order is placed. As a result, once an order is placed and items go to production, any modification or cancellation of the order may result in forfeiture of amounts already paid. Additionally, once an item has been shipped, we cannot make changes to the order.

At Sheldon Ceramics we are committed to providing beautiful, handmade, unique works of art to be enjoyed and used for a lifetime! We are passionate about each item we hand make, and want you to be equally as passionate about your new purchase. Upon arrival, if we have failed to provide you with what you hoped to receive, we will honor a 14 day exchange policy or store credit. This does not include custom orders or made to order pieces. Please keep in mind that most items are made to order. Due to the handmade, made to order nature of these items, we do not offer returns or refunds on made to order items unless received broken or damaged.

For standard, in-stock orders/items: The item(s) must be returned unused and in the same condition in which they arrived. We will exchange any item that does not arrive intact and in perfect condition. Please notify Sheldon Ceramics within 5 days of receipt, for damaged or broken items.

  • You may return your unused item in its original condition and packaging within two weeks of receipt.
  • Please request a return by emailing info@sheldonceramics.com
  • Unless your item is received damaged, or there was some error on our part, you will be responsible for all return shipping costs.
  • Because refunds will not be issued in full for items damaged in return shipping or returns that are never received, we highly recommend that you insure all return shipments and provide Sheldon Ceramics with the shipment tracking number.

  • For custom orders: Unless the order arrives damaged or broken, we do not offer a refund on custom orders. It is important to remember that each piece is handcrafted, and no two items are identical. While minimal, there are slight, and unavoidable variations due to the clay, glazes and firing techniques used. Our work is not mass produced, created in a factory or on an assembly line. The variations of each piece are what make it uniquely yours! Our pottery is one of a kind, and the variations are meant to be embraced and appreciated for their character. We hope you enjoy your new pottery as much as we enjoyed crafting it for you!

    FAQ'S

All of our glazes are formulated and mixed from scratch in our studio and contain non-toxic, all natural, food and dishwasher safe materials.

Each piece is hand thrown in our studio located in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Each piece is fired twice. The final firing is a cone 10 high reduction atmosphere. Cone 10 firing differs from the electric kilns and low firing techniques often used.

The final firing takes 24 hrs to reach the high temperatures necessary, requires precision and monitoring to ensure the kiln is heated evenly, and two days to cool. The high reduction firing also ensures each piece to be highly durable.

We prefer this firing technique with all of our ceramics to ensure our pieces can endure wear and tear, daily use, and avoid chipping. We want you to use and enjoy your pottery daily. It's made to last you a lifetime!
